Apply for child benefit (lapsilisä) from Kela

Every child under 17 in Finland is entitled to a monthly child benefit. Apply at kela.fi as soon as your child is registered.

Why this matters

Child benefit is around 95 to 182 euros per month per child. Single parents receive an additional supplement. This is money you are entitled to.

How it goes

Log in to kela.fi with your Finnish bank credentials and apply for lapsilisä. You need your child's henkilötunnus and your own bank account details. The benefit is paid monthly on the 26th. If you have multiple children, the per-child amount increases. Single parent supplement is about 68 euros per child.
