Permits and registration
Your henkilötunnus (Finnish ID number) is essential for almost every service in Finland - banking, healthcare, tax, and more.
Without a henkilötunnus you cannot open a Finnish bank account, get a tax card, or register for most services. It is your key to Finnish bureaucracy.
When you register your address at DVV, you are usually assigned a henkilötunnus automatically. If you are a non-EU resident, your henkilötunnus is typically assigned when your residence permit is granted. You can find your henkilötunnus on official Finnish documents. Note that some banks may open an account without one, but having it makes everything easier.
