Register with your employer's occupational health service

Most Finnish employers provide occupational healthcare (työterveys) which gives you access to faster, free medical appointments for work-related issues.

During your first weeks at work - ask HR for the contact details

Why this matters

Työterveys is a significant benefit - appointments are free, often faster than public healthcare, and cover many common issues beyond just work injuries.

How it goes

Ask your employer or HR about occupational healthcare. They are legally required to provide at least basic occupational health services. Many employers also provide more comprehensive coverage including GP visits and specialist referrals. The service is provided by companies like Mehiläinen, Terveystalo, or Pihlajalinna.

Good to know

  • Ask HR for your occupational health provider on your first day
  • Occupational health can be used for common illnesses - not just work injuries
  • Keep the contact number in your phone
  • Some providers have apps where you can book appointments and message doctors
