Housing
In Finland, the security deposit (vakuus) is typically 1–3 months of rent. Know your rights before signing.
Finnish tenancy law is tenant-friendly, but knowing the rules protects you from unfair deductions when you leave.
The maximum security deposit is 3 months of rent. It must be returned within 1–2 months after you move out, minus any legitimate deductions for damage beyond normal wear and tear. Document the apartment condition carefully when you move in - take photos and note any existing damage in writing. A written tenancy agreement is strongly recommended.
