A Police ID card is optional but much more practical than carrying your passport. Required by some banks and services.
Wait 1–2 weeks after receiving your personal identity code — this gives the Police time to receive your data.
Bring a passport photo (printed or digital both accepted) and your passport / EU ID card.
Book an appointment at poliisi.fi OR walk in to any police station during opening hours and take a queue number. Tip: booking in Porvoo, Turku, or Tampere is often faster than Helsinki.
You'll get an SMS when your ID card is ready to collect. Collect in person.
